This week, Chroma Art Film Festival 3.0 proudly features Horse Head, an experimental 16mm film by Bennett Curran and Harrison Cable. Stranded in the Tucson mountains, a man is drawn into vivid visions of an alternate version of himself. As his reflection blurs the boundaries between reality and imagination, the film explores themes of identity, loss, and transformation against a barren desert landscape.
With a distinct surrealist style, Horse Head merges analogue filmmaking with an innovative approach to storytelling, proving that the art of traditional filmmaking remains alive in the hands of a new generation.

Director Statement:
“Horse Head is our testament to the enduring power of analogue filmmaking. In an age dominated by digital media, we believe in creating meaningful stories that push boundaries. This experimental film was crafted on a micro-budget, without the use of generative AI, and under the intense heat of 108ºF days. It’s a reflection of our dedication to both tradition and innovation, as well as our desire to create a unique experience for arthouse audiences.”
