“carnivale”
Director: Daniel Maldonado
Film: CARNIVALE is a short texturally layered immersion into disorientation underlined by Summer coated exhilirations. A spatial transmutation where the senses are assaulted and yet we feel safe. Recorded on the unique Japanese Hiranezumi toy camera at Astoria Park’s annual street carnival, the film was conceived with the idea of drowning into a lo-fi psychedelic pool of the amusement park experience. Slipping into a hypnotic trance, we’re transported into a world that re-contextualizes the sensorial experience.
Bio: Daniel is an award winning, NYC based filmmaker who works in narrative fiction and experimental film. His first feature H.O.M.E. was awarded Best Feature at The Queens World Film Festival . His recent experimental work was just screened at Mexico City’s Cineteca Nacional for the Ultra Cine MX experimental festival.
