Director: JEANNE Jaffe

Bio:

Jeanne Jaffe is a multi-disciplinary artist working in installation, sculpture, and stop motion animation. Her work is influenced by an interest in language, literature, psychology, and history and explores how we construct identity, our world and our value systems.
Ms. Jaffe is Professor Emeritus of Fine Arts at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia and has been a visiting artist for five years at Xian Academy of Fine Arts in Xian, China.
Ms. Jaffe is the recipient of fellowship grants for outstanding artistic development from the Gottlieb Foundation, the National Endowment for the Arts, the Mid Atlantic/NEA. the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, the Independence Foundation, the Leeway Foundation, and the Mino Artist Residency in Japan, among others.
Her work has been reviewed in Art in America, The New York Times, and Sculpture Magazine among others.

Film:

“Alice in Dystopia” is a reinterpretation of Lewis Carroll’s 1865 book “Alice in Wonderland”. In this stop motion animation Alice and the Rabbit go down the wrong Rabbit hole and end up in 2020 where they confront current ecological crises and social dilemmas and must find a way to change, grow, and offer hope for renewal and transformation.

This project is created with physical handmade ceramic pieces that are 3D-scanned, then transformed into AI-powered avatars in a sci-fi universe.
